Shine that lets the details show.
A great custom card needs more than sparkle. Here is why we print onto foil, and how selective white ink keeps faces, lettering, and fine detail in focus.

The expression on a face. A name in small lettering. The details that make a card yours. A holographic finish should give them a setting to shine, without competing for attention. Where the foil sits makes a difference.
Same idea. Different layers.
01
Holographic laminate over a print
- Holographic overlay
- Printed artwork
- Card base
The holographic pattern sits above the artwork wherever the overlay covers it.
02
The FOILMONSTER approach
- UV printed artwork
- White ink in selected areas
- Holographic material
- 250 GSM card stock
The foil sits beneath the print. White ink controls where its shine shows through.
When the shine goes over the artwork
One way to make a holographic card is to print the artwork, then apply a transparent holographic laminate over it. This can be done with an inkjet print and creates a finish across the covered surface.
That pattern also passes over faces, names, and small details. Depending on the material and lighting, its reflections can compete with the image underneath. The result can be striking, especially when an all-over effect is the goal.
We build the shine into the design
At FOILMONSTER, we UV print onto holographic material. We use white ink beneath selected parts of the artwork to block the foil where solid color and clear detail matter. Other areas let the holographic finish show through.
This gives us control over the balance: a face can stay the focus while the surrounding design catches the light. Lettering can stay distinct against a reflective background. The exact placement depends on the artwork and chosen finish.

A finish you can feel
The materials matter beyond their shine. Our cards combine 250 GSM premium card stock, holographic vinyl, and raised UV ink and gloss for dimension you can feel. Each card is cut, finished, and checked by hand in California.
Together, those details turn your design into a physical collectible: rich in color, considered in its finish, and made to be picked up and enjoyed.
Look past the sparkle
When choosing a custom card, look at the face, the smallest text, and the edges. Ask where the holographic effect appears and how the card is finished. A good photo or video at more than one angle tells you more than a single flash of rainbow.
Methods and results vary between makers. Our goal is foil that complements the artwork, with the personal details still at the center.
